Our Lady of Consolation Academy

Our Lady of Consolation Academy Academy is a parish Catholic school which celebrates the potential of each child to develop, learn and flourish. We provide young children with an educational environment that embraces compassion, reverence and responsibility. In partnership with the family, we commit ourselves to academic excellence, Christian leadership, and values rooted in a spirirual awareness of God’s love. The presence of Christ in the lives of faculty and students, defines and directs their aims, responsibilities, and privileges. This belief also enables them to communicate mutual trust and respect.

In this faith community, we commit ourselves to the following goals and objectives to make known to each student the person and message of Christ and enable him/her to develop a Christian value system; to create and maintain in the school a Christian community of Faith shared among teachers and students in a spirit of freedom and love; to help students develop a spirit of prayer and worship as a foundation for a solid faith life; to provide quality academic programs, current instructional activities and performing/fine arts; and to foster among students a willingness and ability to understand and love each other.

Dear Friends of Catholic Education,

Our Lady of Consolation Academy DePaul Catholic High and in Wayne have joined together to form a partnership to enhance the already outstanding education provided by both schools.

OLC Academy is a pre- K through 8 Catholic Elementary School located on a beautiful campus 5 mins from DePaul Catholic with a rich history of academic excellence.

The goals of the partnership are:

Enhance the education of the students through the design of an Upper School and Lower School Model at OLC Academy that will meet the needs of all types and levels of learners in a safe, small, nurturing, and Catholic environment.

DePaul Catholic will share its many academic resources with The Academy. Upper School students from the Academy will be transported to DePaul Catholic, throughout the school day, to participate within the high school in various academic classes and clubs.

These shared resources include the use of DePaul Catholic science labs, shared teachers, student teacher assistants, from DePaul Catholic, working with Academy students, accelerated classes in mathematics, algebra, science and english through the STEM Program. We anticipate that a successful Academy student will be Algebra ll, Spanish ll and Advanced Biology ready when they enroll at DePaul Catholic Academy students will also be offered Spanish 5 days a week. We also anticipate they will test into Honors World History and Honors English.

Extra- Curricular activities including clubs, in partnership with DePaul Catholic, will be available to Upper School students at The Academy. This includes theatre productions, both the Fall Drama production and the Spring Musical Production. The Academy Gym will host the practices and the live productions.

There is also a plan in place to create interscholastic academic teams and sports team that will compete against other local elementary schools. Soccer, Cross Country, Basketball and Track and Field.

OLC Academy has a beautiful Gym and playing fields on the Campus.

The final piece of the partnership will be the introduction of the Chromebook for each student of the upper school to use on a daily basis. This, cutting edge, educational tool will allow for a higher level of learning, better communication with students , teachers and parents (or as we call it the successful education triangle), and make for a smoother transition to high school. The Chromebook platform will be available to the Academy students while studing at the Academy or at DePaul Catholic

There are no others schools in the area with such a unique and visionary partnership.

Students will be challenged, parents will be informed and will be active participants in their child’s education, students will learn…together, they will be safe, they will not be bullied as they will attend school with other students interested in learning at a higher level. They will be introduced the academic uses of technology, and they will graduate physically fit and morally grounded.

Finally,

Students who participate in the Academy Partnership with DePaul Catholic will be offered the opportunity to create a memory of education that will be positive and that will last a lifetime.

School Registration for 2013-2014

Our Lady of Consolation Academy, located on the grounds of Our Lady of Consolation Church, is currently accepting registrations for grades Pre K 3 through 8. Our dedicated and caring faculty and staff can offer your child a challenging curriculum in a caring, safe and nurturing environment. We are a Paterson Diocese Best Practice school, 2010 designate as a Diocesan Star School and we have a NJ Non-Public School Teacher of the Year on our staff. Each class has internet access and are equipped with Smart Boards, mounted projectors and document readers. In addition, we have a media center and computer lab that offers up to date projects for all students. Our daily curriculum is supplemented by Art, Music, Spanish, Phys. Ed. We offer Before and After School care to assist working parents and our Pre K options are flexible to also assist working parents. Space is limited in certain grades so for more information regarding tuition or for a tour please contact the school office at 973-839-2323.
